DAVID LANG'S GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATION For "Youth," his new movie about aging friends — a musician and a filmmaker — Paolo Sorrentino chose Pultizer Prize-winning composer David Lang to write the score. Sorrentino's earlier film, "The Great Beauty," used Lang's choral piece i lie in its opening scene and he knew that Lang was the perfect choice to compose the "Youth" soundtrack. Usually a film's music is written after most of the movie is complete, if not all. The composer takes cues from what's on the screen. With "Youth," the story hinges on music that Lang wrote before the script was finished, in particular, simple song #3, which received a 2016 Golden Globe nomination for "Best Original Song." In the story, two artists vacation in the Swiss Alps: Fred, an acclaimed composer and conductor, and Mick, a renowned filmmaker. Though Mick hurries to finish the screenplay for what he expects will be his final big film, Fred has no plans to return to his music career. The two reflect on their past, and find that the present still has much in store.Starring Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel, the Fox Searchlight film opened December 4 in theaters in the USA. Nico Muhly (The Reader, Kill Your Darlings, Me Earl & The Dying Girl) a composé une musique originale pour la web série inédite de 8 épisodes réalisée par la maison Nike à l’occasion de sa nouvelle campagne, Better For It, en collaboration avec Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Glee, American Horror Story), la réalisatrice de film Tricia Brock (Orange is the New Black, Mr Robot, Mozart in the Jungle) et l’auteur de best seller, Jesse Andrews. De Glee à Star du Fitness, il n’y a qu’un pas. La comédienne Samantha Marie Ware est la nouvelle héroïne de cette web série. Margo Vs Lily, c’est l’histoire de deux sœurs adoptées que tout oppose : l’une est une star des réseaux sociaux et une fitness gourou (Lily), l’autre est une ‘sœur’ cachée de Cara Delevingne, blonde un peu espiègle, assez rebelle, hipster et incisive (Margot). Un Grawemeyer award 2016 pour Hans Abramsen

2016 GRAWEMEYER AWARD FOR HANS ABRAHAMSEN The prestigious Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition has this year been given to Edition Wilhelm Hansen composer Hans Abrahamsen for his orchestral song cycle let me tell you. The work, setting a text by Paul Griffiths, was premiered in 2013 by the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Andris Nelsons. The soprano part was sung by Barbara Hannigan to whom the work is dedicated. The Grawemeyer Awards announcement states: ’My words may be poor but they will have to do,’ intones Ophelia in the opening poem. Abrahamsen’s score infuses those limited words with emotional nuance and depth, said Grawemeyer award director Marc Satterwhite.’The vocal lines exquisitely mirror Griffiths’ fragile texts of the doomed Ophelia,’ said Satterwhite. ’The orchestra is a partner rather than mere accompanist and the composer draws a huge array of colors from the orchestra, delicate and shimmering more often than not, but occasionally in fuller force.’Hans Abrahamsen is the first Dane to receive the Grawemeyer Award. let me tell you is the second Grawemeyer Award-winning work on which music critic, poet and novelist Paul Griffiths collaborated. He also wrote the libretto for Marco Polo, which won Tan Dun the 1998 Grawemeyer Award in Music Composition. let me tell you has had an overwhelming 18 performances since its world premiere in December 2013 and more are planned, including the US premiere in January 2016 with the Cleveland Orchestra, to be conducted by Frans Welser-Möst with Barbara Hannigan as the soloist. The Cleveland Orchestra will give the New York Premiere at Carnegie Hall, then the Boston Symphony Orchestra will be perform the work in February. let me tell you also received the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Large-Scale Composition in 2015.The work has been recorded and is scheduled for release on Winter&Winter in early January 2016.
